Good ‘ol day 3.
Blogger Post June 21st, 2009My last day in Breck was greeted with morning sunshine. I got to do the full third lap of the Breck 100, re-rode some of the Firecracker course, and a few extra miles from getting lost. I felt the best today, which was funny b/c I had 7.5 hours of riding at high altitude in my legs from the last 2 days. I got to do some hard tempo, about 50 miles about about 6000′ of climbing. Marathon Nationals will be 50 miles, and almost 11,000′ of elevation gain. Ouch!!
I had a great day, and will simply sum the day up in photos.

Valleys surrounded by purple mountain majesties

Views from the Gold Dust Trail

This will be a little harder than it looks at mile 80 something of the Breck 100!

and this will be a hike a bike

The singletrack came to an opening and I almost missed this wide open view.

Breathing in… taking it allll in….storing these moments so I can go to my happy place when I’m desk jockeying during the week.

This woman was running up the rode, having her mule carry all her exercise stuff, and she kept whipping him b/c he didn’t want to go uphill. I know how he feels sometimes. hehe Mule: “&#%*!!! Why do I have to run up this mountain too?!?!”
Panting back up Boreas Pass from the Como side… 11,000′ and 500 more to go.
Now it is Sunday night… we all know what Sunday night feels like. Still buzzing off the weekend, but knowing that you’ll probably have a case of the Mondays… oh the impending doom of Monday that awaits.

I wish our hill (mountains) were more like yours. What views you guys have. Your mountains are high on my list of must ride places.
