High desert singletrack session
Blogger Post November 28th, 2008Every day this week, coach has me doing 2 hour zone 2ish rides. The rain finally stopped leaving the singletrack nice and tacky. I rode up to the trail early this afternoon, hoping to burn a chunk of the large amount of calories I consumed last night. Seriously, I had a food baby…and it was not ordinary baby, it was triplets.
Before the turkey was cooked. This is something my dad and I do anytime there is a large, dead bird in the sink… Sorry it’s rotated!
The clouds are still hanging out over Albuquerque, but the trail was dry enough to ride. It was fun to ride a hardtail again. It has been almost a year for me. It was also interesting riding with tubes pumped to 40 PSI. Oddly enough, I didn’t notice too much because the trail was in such good condition. The only major bummer today was halfway through the ride (and before the fun, twisty downhill sections), my rear brake completely stopped working. I can pull the lever all the way to the handlebar with no braking at all. I had to be extra careful to not fly into a corner with too much speed. I don’t use my front brake much, but I do use my back brake for extra control on the twisty stuff.
I love the foothills!
I’ll have to see if there is anything I can do to make my rear brake work for my ride tomorrow. I don’t have a bleed kit with me, but I do have an extra set of brake pads. I may have to ride the road… I head back to Boulder tomorrow night – quick trip!!
I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend.

Seek out and find Dan, Dan, and Tony at Biker Works – over on Carlisle. They will fix your brake and give you beer. No kidding. Tell them I sent you.

Shake it turkey, shake it, oh yeah, that’s some tasty breast…ouch! Just got a crick in my neck watching your video.
Ah, looks like the singlespeed will have to come with me on some ABQ rides, the Foothills are looking great!
